Kao, Su-Chuan

Shu-chuan Kao was a former research associate in a nation-wide standardized testing program in Taiwan. Now she focuses her research interest on multidimensional IRT and test equating. Once she was an athlete who specialized in high jump (from elementary school to college), but now she prefers to be a bookworm. On the other hand, she also likes gardening and cooking. The correlation between gardening and cooking to her is that the more herbs she plants, the more herbal dishes she cooks.

Li, Tianli

Tianli Li spent all her college time for degrees of education and also spent several years working as an educational administrator. She has been in the mist of various theories and practical problems of education and psychology. Since arriving at MSU, her eyes have been opened so that she now believes that she can do something to really make a difference. She believes that tests hold the future of education. Now she is specializing in large scale measurement, and she is interested in several topics about item response theory. After school, she likes to jog a little around the apartment complex and likes to spending time with her husband. Most important, she enjoys doing house work.
Li, Xin

Xin Li is interested in the application of computerized adaptive testing and large-scale assessment for English as Second Lanugage (ESL). Multidimensional item response theory, multilevel modeling and rating scale analysis are other research areas she would like to pursue. She loves traveling and mountain climbing.
Lin, Yea-lin

Yea-lin Lin has backgrounds in both sociology and statistics, and is interested in methodology of behavior science, especially applied to sociological education research. Recently, Dr. Frank's robust indices have gained most of her attention. When not doing work, she likes to listen to classical music and go to concerts. Playing volleyball and swimming are two of her favorite sports. Going to church is also one of main activities in her life.

Mapuranga, Raymond

Raymond Mapuranga is currently doing research in causal inference as it applies to experimental designs and regression models. He is also interested in Bayesian statistical modeling and maximum likelihood estimation in the context of social science research. Some of his other more recent interests are: latent trait modeling in analyzing the reliability and validity of large-scale assessments, and multiple matrix sampling.
Middlestead, Andrew
Email: Andrew Middlestead
Andrew Middlestead is employed full-time as a research associate with the Third International Math and Science Study and is a part-time student in the MQM program. Within TIMSS he is primarily involved in using TIMSS instruments and methodologies to assess the curricula and student achievement in districts across the country. In Andy's free time he enjoys disc golf, photography, and his recent marriage in December 2002.
Myers, Nick

Nick Myers is a doctoral student that is majoring in both MQM and Kinesiology (KIN). Nickıs area of emphasis within the KIN department can be described as the psychosocial aspects of sport and physical activity (i.e. sport psychology). Research interests include examining the role of, the measurement of, efficacy in sport and physical activity.

Ngudgratoke, Sungworn

Sungworn Ngudgratoke is interested in policy with regard to measurement and evaluation. He would like to apply measurement methodologies to examine outcomes of educational accountability system, and rater bias. He is also interested in structural equation modeling and multi-level modeling.
